Text Message Terms
What the program is
StreamSense sends text-message alerts to people with a StreamSense account when a watched river site or place reaches a condition their organization has set: a forecast reaching a place, a flood stage reached at a site, a sensor that has stopped reporting, a low battery, or readings that have turned suspect. One message is sent when an alert opens and, if chosen, one when it clears. Messages are operational notifications, not marketing.
How you opt in
You receive texts only if you add a mobile number to your own StreamSense account (on your Account page, or when an administrator creates your account with your number) and an alert that texts includes you. Adding a number is your consent to receive these alerts at that number. Consent is not a condition of any purchase.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies with river conditions and the alerts set up for you. In a quiet month you may receive none; during a flood you may receive several in a day.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile plan. StreamSense does not charge for text alerts.
Stopping and help
Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts from StreamSense; you will get one confirmation and no further texts until you opt in again. You can also remove the mobile number from your account. Reply HELP for help, or use the contact form.
Carriers
Supported carriers include the major US carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Text alerts supplement, and do not replace, official warnings from the National Weather Service and local emergency management.
Privacy
How your number and consent are handled is described in the Privacy Policy. Mobile numbers and consent to receive messages are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
