Terms of Service
These terms apply to everyone who uses StreamSense, including the live map, alerts, the demo and this website. Where an organization has a signed agreement with Triangle UAS, that agreement governs if it conflicts with these terms.
The service
StreamSense shows gauge readings, model-estimated flood extents, forecasts and estimated impacts to help organizations watch and respond to flooding. Maps, forecasts, depths, damage and population figures are estimates produced automatically from sensor readings and public data. They can be incomplete, delayed or wrong, for example when a sensor fails, a data source is late or conditions change faster than a model can describe.
Your decisions remain yours
StreamSense supports, and does not replace, the judgment of the people responsible for public safety. Decisions about warnings, closures, evacuations and other actions remain with the organization and its staff, who should use StreamSense together with official National Weather Service warnings, field observations and their own procedures. StreamSense does not provide engineering or surveying services, and nothing in it is an engineering or surveying certification.
Accounts
Accounts are issued by each organization's administrator. Keep your password private, use the service only for your organization's purposes, and tell your administrator if you believe your account has been misused. Administrators are responsible for who they give access to.
Acceptable use
Do not try to get around security, access another organization's data, overload or disrupt the service, copy or reverse-engineer the software, or use it for anything unlawful.
Data
An organization's own gauge readings, uploads and settings remain its data, and it can export its readings at any time. Triangle UAS may use readings and model results to operate and improve StreamSense, including to improve models used by other organizations. Personal information is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Public data from national sources remains subject to its publishers' terms.
Availability
We work to keep StreamSense running through storms, but the service, its sensors and the networks it relies on can be interrupted. Alerts by email or text can be delayed or not delivered by carriers and mail providers.
Disclaimer
Except as stated in a signed agreement, StreamSense is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and uninterrupted operation.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Triangle UAS is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss or damage arising from reliance on maps, forecasts, alerts or estimates, and its total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes and law
We may update these terms and will post the new version here with its effective date. These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina. Questions: use the contact form.
